Two aircraft were, based at Longyearbyen airport (Svalbard), were deployed:
- ATR42 (SAFIRE): it usually flies in middle troposphere (~5km) up to 7.5 km, it has an endurance of about 3h30 and a range of 1500 km. It was equipped of a Radar/lidar platform (RALI) and in-situ microphysics probes.
- Twin Otter (BAS): it flies in low-level troposphere, it measured turbulent fluxes and surface properties (temperature, albedo and topography) through infrared remote sensing and laser altimeter.
